VIII National Agribusiness Forum: Strategic Insights and Opportunities
We were honored to participate as sponsors at the VIII National Agribusiness Forum, alongside other events organized by LIDE Argentina. In this article, we share some of the key takeaways that are highly relevant to Argentina's current economic landscape.
GLOBAL AGRIBUSINESS MARKETS
The first panel featured a powerful roundtable discussion on the requirements to compete and win in global agribusiness markets. Marisa Bircher, Secretary of Foreign Trade at Argentina's Ministry of Production and Labor, emphasized that during her administration, exports from the agribusiness sector grew significantly, but stressed the need to continue working with Southeast Asian markets to enhance competitiveness. Pablo Paladini, Director of Frigorífico Paladini, highlighted the importance of investment in the value chain, noting that many SMEs face challenges in accessing credit. Gustavo Idígoras, President of the Argentine Oil Industry Chamber (CIARA) and the Grain Exporters Center (CEC), agreed that 65% of Argentina's exports are directed to Southeast Asia and that efforts should focus on exporting products with greater added value.
Agustín Dranovsky, CEO of Grupo Benetton, concluded the panel by emphasizing that cooperation between the private sector and the government is essential to promote policies that benefit all stakeholders involved.
SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION AND PRODUCERS
The second panel focused on sustainable production and sustainable producers. Alejandro Petek, agricultural producer, shared his vision on the need to achieve quality production goals while protecting the environment and strengthening relationships with society. Vítor Escalas, President of SpeedAgro, expressed hope that the next government would maintain successful policies and improve financing for the sector. Laura Loizeau, Vice President of LIDE Agribusiness, concluded the panel urging not to allow governments to focus solely on easily solvable issues and to fully leverage new technologies to add value to what is already being done well in the sector.
